The Not-So Newborn Stage

The not so newborn stage is basically babies older than 4 weeks.

While the little ones may not be as easy to settle, they are now giving little smiles and are really alert so these photos are a little different to the newborn stage.

I photograph in the home

Photographing in my clients homes gives me the opportunity to create unique and intimate images. I want my images to feel personal and I want them to have the feeling of your first home.

I have photographed in all different styles of homes - apartments, small homes, large homes, styled homes, bohemian homes, homes with only pockets of light. Beauty can be found everywhere. I tend to photograph predominately in the master room and nursery but in general, I gravitate to where there is lovely light/

Even though I am based in Leichhardt, I photograph all over Sydney for my home sessions.

How long does the session go for?

The session usually goes for 1.5 hours though some of this time might be used for settling and feeding. I find that I can get a beautiful variety of images during this timeframe. With my style of newborn photography, I don’t mind if the baby is awake and alert (just as long as they are happy).

Do you use props?

My style is natural and organic - I prefer to use the natural setting of the home and the blankets and wraps that you use every day. For me, the memory of a wrap that you used or a blanket takes you back to this time. I would prefer you to remember this than a blanket that’s not yours and has not been a part of your life.

I include mum, dad, siblings (and even pets)

I do not have a single photo of my dad holding me when I was a baby. What did he look like back then? I have no idea! But I wish I did.

While I can understand that mum’s and dad’s might not always feel up to being involved in the photos, it’s a gift for your children. It’s them who will want to know what you looked like, the expression on your face as you hold them. I try to get the session very light and relaxed - I try to keep the style and look a bit documentary as well as beautiful and gentle.

Unique & timeless baby photos taken in the comfort of your home

I capture babies beautifully, honestly and uniquely.

A baby is everything wonderful in this world and Welsch Photography specialise in capturing this glimpse of a moment in your child's life.

Hi, I'm Bec Welsch, Newborn Photographer and Owner of Welsch Photography.

I find that some new mums are reluctant to leave the home early on so I mainly do home sessions. The home environment allows me to create intimate and unique images to be treasured for a lifetime. I have photographed in all different styles of homes - apartments, small homes, large homes, styled homes, bohemian homes, homes with only pockets of light. Beauty can be found everywhere. Even though I am based in Leichhardt, I photograph all over Sydney for my home sessions.

We photograph our Newborns during the week within business hours.
