Fur Babies

For many families, their first baby was their fur baby. I started to include fur babies into my newborn sessions very organically. You could say it just happened. Fur babies are an important part of many families and including them in the session means that they have this important member captured for a lifetime.

I photograph in the home

Photographing in my clients homes gives me the opportunity to create unique and intimate images. I want my images to feel personal and I want them to have the feeling of your first home.

I have photographed in all different styles of homes - apartments, small homes, large homes, styled homes, bohemian homes, homes with only pockets of light. Beauty can be found everywhere. I tend to photograph predominately in the master room and nursery but in general, I gravitate to where there is lovely light/

Even though I am based in Leichhardt, I photograph all over Sydney for my home sessions.

How does it work?

I put very little pressure on the pets to be involved and often times, the part where the pet is involved is quite quick and takes a small amount of time. Usually I like to get the dog or cat up on the master bed with the rest of the family and photograph from there.

It’s up to the owners to know their pets very well and how gentle they are. I’m certainly not a trainer myself so I take my cues from mum and dad.

Sometimes, I just like to include the pet in the background or just the hint of the pet.

What if my pet doesn’t behave?

Quite often, I’ll work around the pet and see what they are comfortable with. Sometimes, we involve treats but usually their role is quick.

Do you use props?

My style is natural and organic - I prefer to use the natural setting of the home and the blankets and wraps that you use every day. For me, the memory of a wrap that you used or a blanket takes you back to this time. I would prefer you to remember this than a blanket that’s not yours and has not been a part of your life.

Unique & timeless baby photos taken in the comfort of your home

I capture babies beautifully, honestly and uniquely.

A baby is everything wonderful in this world and Welsch Photography specialise in capturing this glimpse of a moment in your child's life.

Hi, I'm Bec Welsch, Newborn Photographer and Owner of Welsch Photography.

I find that some new mums are reluctant to leave the home early on so I mainly do home sessions. The home environment allows me to create intimate and unique images to be treasured for a lifetime. I have photographed in all different styles of homes - apartments, small homes, large homes, styled homes, bohemian homes, homes with only pockets of light. Beauty can be found everywhere. Even though I am based in Leichhardt, I photograph all over Sydney for my home sessions.

We photograph our Newborns during the week within business hours.
